Battery Rebate

Incentives Available from 1 November 2024

If you're eligible, you could access incentives:

  • Between $1600 to $2400 off the up-front installation costs of a battery for homes and businesses with existing solar.  

  • Between $250 to $400 for connecting your household or business battery to a Virtual Power Plant (VPP).

  • For homes and businesses without solar, the incentive can be priced into a quote for a new solar and battery system installation.

The installation incentive is usually provided as an upfront discount by the approved supplier.

  • Contact an approved supplier: Approved suppliers can claim these incentives for work completed from 1 November. We will update this page and direct you to the list of approved suppliers as they become available.

 

The solar battery and solar system government rebates in Australia vary significantly across different states and territories in 2024. Here's a breakdown of some key rebates and incentives:

New South Wales:

  • Feed-in Tariff: While the NSW government has phased out the former feed-in tariff scheme, many electricity retailers still offer competitive rates for exporting excess solar power to the grid.

  • HomeBuilder Grant: If you're building a new home or renovating an existing one, you might be eligible for the HomeBuilder Grant, which can be used towards solar system installation costs.

  • Local Council Rebates: Some local councils in NSW offer rebates for solar system installations, so it's worth checking with your local council for specific details.

Victoria:

  • Solar Homes Bonus: This program provides a rebate of up to $1,400 for eligible households that install solar systems.

  • Solar Hot Water Bonus: There's also a rebate available for solar hot water systems.

  • Zero Interest Loans: The Victorian government offers zero-interest loans to help households finance solar system installations.

Queensland:

  • Solar Bonus Scheme: The Queensland government offers a solar bonus scheme that provides a feed-in tariff for exporting excess solar power to the grid.

  • Solar Hot Water Rebate: There's also a rebate available for solar hot water systems.

  • Local Council Rebates: Some local councils in Queensland offer rebates for solar system installations.

South Australia:

  • Home Battery Scheme: This scheme provides a rebate of up to $6,000 for eligible households that install solar batteries.

  • Solar Bonus Scheme: South Australia also has a solar bonus scheme that provides a feed-in tariff for exporting excess solar power to the grid.

Western Australia:

  • Solar Rebate Program: The Western Australian government offers a solar rebate program that provides a rebate for eligible households that install solar systems.

  • Solar Hot Water Rebate: There's also a rebate available for solar hot water systems.

Other States and Territories:

  • Tasmania: The Tasmanian government offers a solar rebate program.

  • Northern Territory: The Northern Territory government offers a solar rebate program.

  • Australian Capital Territory: The ACT government offers a solar rebate program.
